It’s been well over 2 months since the operation and the recovery has been up and down. This is just a small post for my own sanity really.
While I’ve enjoyed the luxury of sitting on the toilet, browsing random content and taking my time, I’ve suffered with the pain (both inside and outside) that comes with it, as well as an infection due to the wound re-opening.
To start, my toilet habits have started to return to normal, if 10 times a day is normal. This also depends on what I eat and the amount. As long as I keep on top of taking regular loperamide, I can normally go a couple of hours between toilet visits.
Going to the toilet has more than doubled in the amount of time it takes, as opposed to when I had the bag. When emptying the bag, I would normally take a couple of minutes to empty and close (towards the end), whereas now I have the enjoyment of sitting and ensuring that every last little bit is out. It has allowed me to catch up on emails, browse Reddit, and read the news. At the time of writing this, it’s currently taking me between 10 to 20 minutes. This is longer at the moment as I’m still getting used to all of the sensations and feelings. A bit like learning for the first time.
With that said, there are times that are good and times that are bad, in terms of toilet habits. Unfortunately Stomach acid is still a thing and burns like a mofo. For this reason, I’m having to apply a nappy cream called bepanthen and use wipes to ensure that I don’t break the skin, which would be even more painful.
Overall, I’m finally getting there and can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
This isn’t the end of my updates though. I plan to keep everyone up-to-date as I progress.
I’d also like to thank everyone that has been following me through the entire process and for all the comments I’ve received, both on here and Social Media.
